Inspection ServicesInspection Services provides inspections for all new construction (including grading) with the exception of Transportation Inspections. 2nd Driveway Encroachment Permit A 2nd driveway encroachment permit application is required to be completed. Verizon’s Fiber to the Premises Project (FTTP) Land Development Division issues permits to Verizon to work on their “Fiber to the Premises” (FTTP) project. This project is intended to bring high speed data services to residents and businesses throughout the City. Installation of the new data services began on the west side of the city and will continue towards the east and north. Service will be active throughout the City by December 2010. Storm Water Management Program (SWMP)The SWMP is responsible for the City’s compliance with the state mandates found within the Santa Ana River Watershed Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (NIS4) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit. The permit required the City reduce pollutants in urban runoff to the Maximum Extend Practicable. SWMP staff formulates and implements City policy and programs to comply with permit mandates. In addition; SWMP staff is involved in various regional/global Technical Advisory Committees to formulate regional policy and studies to protect inland streams, lakes, surface and ground waters for present the future generations. Support AssistanceThis section provides support assistance services to the Division including, but not limited to, permit issuance for special events. Permit Requirements and IssuanceA permit is required for all work in the public right-of-way or grading. Land Development Division issues various permits. They include grading, stockpile, encroachment, and special event permits. The applications for these permits can be found at the Land Development Forms. Special EventsSpecial Events that will block the public right-of-way (streets and/or sidewalks) for less than 24 hours (excluding block parties), are processed in accordance with the City’s Special Events Policy LDD# 2007-12.
