Moreno Valley Invites You To Participate in a Two-Day Independence Day Celebration
The City of Moreno Valley’s July 4th Celebration this year will be a Two-Day Celebration. Beginning on July 3, the Independence Day Celebration will kick off with a parade from 9:30 a.m. – noon. The parade theme this year is "America Come Together". The second day of celebration will continue on July 4 from 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. with the Family Fun Fest activities at Mountain View Middle School/Morrison Park.

Moreno Valley Police Department Checkpoint Seeks to Save Lives
Drunk driving is one of America’s deadliest crimes. In California last year 1,029 people died in crashes involving a driver or motorcycle rider with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. That is why the Moreno Valley Police Department announced today they will be holding a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Thursday, July 1 from 1800-2300 in Moreno Valley.

Senior Center to host a Swap Meet
The Moreno Valley Senior Center will host a Swap Meet on Friday, July 2, 2010. If you are looking for that antique piece this might be the place to look! Entrance to the Swap Meet is free and is open to the public. The Swap Meet will take place at the Moreno Valley Senior Center, located at 25075 Fir Avenue from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For further information on the Swap Meet, contact the Moreno Valley Senior Center at 951.413.3430.

After two rounds of intense auditions, the City of Moreno Valley has announced the finalists of the Moreno Valley Idol competition. Finalists will compete for their chance to become the next Moreno Valley Idol at the Family Fun Fest Celebration on July 4th.

Summer Reading Program Heats Up For Moreno Valley Readers
The Moreno Valley Public Library began its summer reading program on June 14th. Children ages two to eleven are welcome to come down to the Library and “Make a Splash.” Teens ages twelve to eighteen should come down and “Make Waves” with great books. Adults ages 19 and older are encouraged to “Water their Minds” from the pool of literature at the Moreno Valley Public Library.

Moreno Valley Forced to Pay Over $5 Million to Cover State Raid of Local Redevelopment Funds
The Moreno Valley Redevelopment Agency was forced to turn over $5,258,237 to the Riverside County Auditor, a required payment resulting from the State’s decision to raid $2.05 billion in local redevelopment funds as part of the 2009-10 State Budget. Instead of going to fund local job creation, economic growth and urban revitalization projects, this money will now be siphoned off to help pay the State’s obligations.
