City Uses Zoom Video Conferencing to Keep Residents Involved
Can Now be Used to Address City Council

Using the internet, Moreno Valley residents have long been able to watch live or recorded City Council meetings at their convenience. Now, they can take part in the meetings by addressing the Council during the Public Comments portion of the meetings using Zoom video-conferencing software.
“Social distancing doesn't need to stop us from accepting valuable public input,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “It's vital to maintaining City services and our democratic processes.”
The Mayor introduced the use of Zoom at the City Council meeting on March 17. The Council will use Zoom to accept public comments at its next regular meeting on Tuesday, April 7, and for as long as social distancing remains in effect. It will also be used at the City's March 26 Planning Commission Meeting.
Mayor Gutierrez decided to put Zoom to use when the City restricted public access to City facilities in an effort to help slow the spread of coronavirus.
The software is easy to use. Simply go to www.zoom.us, click on Join a Meeting and enter the Meeting ID, 963-117-7849, and then run the Zoom launcher. Visit the City's website at www.moval.org/zoom for instructions.
As always, residents can watch City Council meetings live on MVTV-3, on the City’s website at www.moval.org or on the MoVal YouTube channel. Recorded meetings are also available from the website and YouTube.
Regular City Council meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month. The March 26 Planning Commission meeting starts at 7 p.m.
