Community Invited to Pay Respects at Memorial Honoring Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Baca

As the City of Moreno Valley continues to mourn the loss of Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Baca, Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, the City Council and City Staff have set up a special memorial to honor the Council Member, who passed away on October 6 after battling a long illness.
The memorial features a framed photograph of Mayor Pro Tem Baca and a custom floral arrangement surrounding the City Seal at Moreno Valley City Hall. Friends, family members, colleagues, and residents are welcome to visit the memorial to leave flowers or pay respects. The memorial is located at 14177 Frederick Street, and will be available to mourners at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Monday, October 11.
"Laying flowers upon Mayor Pro Tem Baca's memorial was one of the hardest things I've had to do, but it is important that we honor her service and dedication to the Moreno Valley community," said Mayor Gutierrez. "It has been difficult to have to say goodbye to such a dear friend and great colleague."
Mayor Pro Tem Baca made history in 2012 as the first Latina elected to the Moreno Valley City Council. A year later, she was voted by her fellow Council Members to be Mayor Pro Tem and was re-elected to represent District 1 in 2016 and 2020.

La Comunidad está Invitada a Rendir Respeto en el Memorial en Honor a la Alcaldesa Provisional Victoria Baca
Mientras la Ciudad de Moreno Valley continúa lamentando la pérdida de la Alcaldesa Provisional Victoria Baca, el Alcalde Yxstian Gutierrez, el Concejo Municipal y los empleados de la Ciudad han establecido un monumento especial para honrar la Miembra del Concejo, que falleció el 6 de octubre después de luchar contra una larga enfermedad.
El monumento presenta una fotografía enmarcada de la Alcaldesa Provisional Baca y un arreglo floral personalizado, que rodea el Sello de la Ciudad en el Ayuntamiento de Moreno Valley. Los amigos, familiares, socios y residentes pueden visitar el monumento para dejar flores o simplemente presentar sus respetos. El monumento está ubicado en 14177 Frederick Street y estará disponible para los dolientes a las 12:00 p.m. el jueves 7 de octubre y de 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. hasta el lunes 11 de octubre.
"Poner flores en el monumento conmemorativo de la Alcaldesa Provisional Baca fue una de las cosas más difíciles que tuve que hacer, pero es importante que honremos su servicio y dedicación a la comunidad de Moreno Valley", dijo el Alcalde Gutiérrez. "Ha sido difícil tener que despedirme de una amiga tan querida y una gran colega".
La Alcaldesa Provisional Baca hizo historia en 2012 como la primera latina elegida para el Concejo Municipal de Moreno Valley. Un año después, sus compañeros miembros del Concejo la votaron para ser Alcaldesa Provisional y fue reelegida para representar al Distrito 1 en 2016 y 2020.
