VOLUNTEER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Volunteering is an important way to take ownership in your community, learn about City services, and, most importantly, make a difference.
For those age 18+, there are nine departments to choose from, so you are sure to find a place to connect. From Animal Services to the Library and everything in between, the City of Moreno Valley has a volunteer opportunity for you. Visit the “What You Need to Know” section below for more details!
Under 18 and looking to complete your high school volunteer requirement? Through this program, high school freshmen aged 14-17 can volunteer at the Library or Senior Center with parent or guardian permission. Students are encouraged to complete their hours well before the end of their senior year. As graduation approaches each year, we see a significant increase in requests to volunteer just weeks or days left in the school year, and programs become full or at capacity quickly. Single-day volunteer opportunities are also available through the quarterly Beautify MoVal. Through this program, students can register for the next quarterly clean-up day, complete their hours, and receive a sign-off of their hours that day.

Whether you prefer a one-time community cleanup or a long-term role within a City department, Moreno Valley has a volunteer experience for you.
Beautify MoVal
Single-day events open to all residents — including children and teens. Help clean and beautify our parks and public spaces. Youth volunteers can have school-required community service hours signed off after completing each event.

Opportunities across nine City departments for longer-term, regular service within the same program. Youth ages 14–17 can volunteer in three library branches, the Community Garden, and the Senior Center — with parental or guardian or guardian approval.

Volunteer Requirements
- The City does not offer court-ordered community service options.
Anyone seeking this opportunity should contact Riverside County 2-1-1 - All persons ages 18 and older must complete a successful Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check before placement.
- Placement is subject to applicant interest, role availability, and other factors determined by the department.
- All volunteers must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and City policies and procedures.
- Detailed screening and/or selection criteria are unique to each department and role.
- Youth volunteers (ages 14–17) are welcome in select departments with parental or guardian approval.
Your Community
Upon successful completion of your background check, you will be contacted by the department to schedule your orientation within fourteen business days.
