Dear Moreno Valley Residents,
Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through extraordinary sacrifice. It’s a moment to reflect on the lives of the men and women who gave everything in service to our nation, and to honor their legacy with gratitude and respect. This year, we celebrate our country’s 250th birthday, and it’s important to acknowledge that this celebration wouldn’t be possible without their sacrifices over the past two and a half centuries.
On Monday, May 25, I invite you to join our community for a Virtual Memorial Day Address at 1:30 p.m., streaming on the City’s YouTube channel, Facebook page, and MV3. This shared moment of remembrance allows us to come together, even from afar, to pause and reflect on the true meaning of the day.
Here in Moreno Valley, that meaning is especially personal. With the longstanding presence of March Air Reserve Base and a strong community of veterans and military families, service is woven into the fabric of our City. We see its impact not only in our history, but in the everyday lives of those who continue to serve and those who carry forward the memory of lost loved ones.
Our commitment to honoring that sacrifice remains strong and steadfast. From supporting active-duty service members to standing alongside veterans and their families, we recognize that remembrance is not limited to a single day. Rather, it’s an ongoing responsibility we share as a community.
As Memorial Day approaches, I encourage you to take a quiet moment to reflect, to remember, and to honor the legacy of those brave souls we’ve lost. Their sacrifices live on in the freedoms we cherish and the lives we lead each day.

Estimados Residentes de Moreno Valley,
El Día de los Caídos en Guerra es un solemne recordatorio de que las libertades que hoy disfrutamos fueron aseguradas mediante sacrificios extraordinarios. Es un momento para reflexionar sobre las vidas de los hombres y mujeres que lo dieron todo al servicio de nuestra nación, y para honrar su legado con gratitud y respeto. Este año, celebramos el 250.° aniversario de nuestro país, y es importante reconocer que esta celebración no sería posible sin los sacrificios realizados a lo largo de los últimos dos siglos y medio.
El lunes 25 de mayo, les invito a unirse a nuestra comunidad para participar en un Mensaje Virtual Conmemorativo por el Día de los Caídos en Guerra a la 1:30 p.m., el cual será transmitido a través del canal de YouTube de la Ciudad, su página de Facebook y MV3. Este momento compartido de conmemoración nos brinda la oportunidad de reunirnos, aun a la distancia, para hacer una pausa y reflexionar sobre el verdadero significado de esta fecha.
Aquí, en Moreno Valley, ese significado es especialmente personal. Con la histórica presencia de la Base de Reserva Aérea March y una sólida comunidad de veteranos y familias militares, el servicio forma parte esencial de la identidad de nuestra Ciudad. Vemos su impacto no solo en nuestra historia, sino también en la vida cotidiana de quienes continúan sirviendo y de aquellos que mantienen viva la memoria de sus seres queridos que hemos perdido. Nuestro compromiso de honrar ese sacrificio permanece firme e inquebrantable. Desde apoyar a los miembros activos de las fuerzas armadas hasta acompañar a los veteranos y a sus familias, reconocemos que la conmemoración no se limita a un solo día, sino que constituye una responsabilidad permanente que compartimos como comunidad.
Con la llegada del Día de los Caídos en Guerra, les invito a tomarse un momento de reflexión, para recordar y honrar el legado de aquellas valientes almas que hemos perdido. Sus sacrificios perduran en las libertades que valoramos y en las vidas que vivimos cada día.
