Construction Waste

Construction and Demolition (C&D) material typically consists of waste generated during the construction, renovation, or demolition of buildings, pavements, or other structures.

The City of Moreno Valley implemented a C&D Waste Recycling Program (Chapter 8.80) to divert C&D materials from County landfills and help meet diversion goals required under the Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 (AB 939). The California Green Building Standards Code (24 CCR, Part 11) (Chapter 6.03), also known as CALGreen, expanded on C&D diversion requirements. CALGreen, as amended, requires that 65% of C&D waste generated at covered projects in the City be diverted from landfill disposal through reuse and recycling.

All disposal services must be arranged through the City’s designated franchise hauler, Waste Management.

Waste Management provides roll-off boxes ranging from 10 to 40 cubic yards for both temporary and permanent use. Recycling roll-off boxes are also available for materials such as green waste, wood, concrete, and asphalt.
