Meet Council Member Ed Delgado
Ed Delgado was elected to the Moreno Valley City Council in 2021 to represent District 2. Council Member Delgado will focus on quality-of-life issues that affect District 2 and the entire City of Moreno Valley, and his goal is to make Moreno Valley a safer and cleaner place to live.
Council Member Delgado spent 10 years in the United States Coast Guard—four years active duty and six years reserve. He was assigned to a Search and Rescue, Small Boat Station in Newburyport, Massachusetts for two years and to a 378-foot Cutter ship in Honolulu, Hawaii for two years. He spent six years in the reserves at the Port Security Unit 311 in San Pedro, California. His time in the U.S. Coast Guard taught him discipline, maritime law enforcement, and leadership that prepared him for the law enforcement career he has today.
Council Member Delgado is a 23-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, where he has worked a variety of assignments, most recently as the Assistant Sheriff overseeing Corrections. He has been assigned to transportation, administration, and floor operations in three jails, and was assigned as the Corrections Academy Coordinator, where he was responsible for the recruits in the Basic Correctional Deputy Academy. He was also the coordinator for Advanced Officer Training for the Corrections Division within the Ben Clark Training Center.
Council Member Delgado is an Adjunct Instructor for Moreno Valley College, where he teaches leadership courses to young adults within the law enforcement profession. He also speaks at special academy engagements and ceremonies.
Council Member Delgado is a voting member of the Riverside County Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (JJCC). The JJCC is dedicated to the promotion of an effective juvenile justice system operated in an environment of credibility, dignity, fairness and respect for the youth of Riverside County.
Council Member Delgado and his wife Laurie have lived in Moreno Valley for 26 years and raised all three of their children in the City. His wife has been a Registered Nurse for the past 27 years and is currently working at a local hospital. He was a volunteer coach for Moreno Valley Diamond Girls Softball and Moreno Valley Youth Federation Baseball. All three of his children are currently attending college.
Council Member Delgado possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Management from the University of Redlands. He is also a graduate of the American Jail Association, Jail Command Academy and is a Certified Jail Manager.
Council Member Delgado is committed to treating everyone in District 2 and across Moreno Valley with fairness and respect, and he pledges to make decisions that are in the best interest of the entire City.
